OPAL Afterschool club

Following the success of OPAL during lunchtimes and break times,  we are now offering an OPAL afterschool clubThis is a fantastic opportunity for the children to access the different zones in a smaller group to build resilience and confidence.

This term an OPAL afterschool club has been offered to KS2. Each week we will engage in activites outdoors to provide children witn inclusive, imaginative and active play opportunities fostering their emotional, mental and physical well-being.

Monday 8th October

This week we focused on art in our Arts & Craft Zone.
We used acrylic paints to create individual stone art which will be displayed in our grounds. We also decorated fairy houses, toad-stools and ceramic fairy models which will be used to create a fairy garden in our woods.
Monday 13th October

This week our KS2 children worked in small groups to construct dens in our Woods zone.
It required the children to negotiate with each other, visualise, plan and build a sturdy frame using natural materials, loose parts, rope and tarpaulin. It was lovely to see the children so imaginative and proud of their fantastic dens.
Monday 20th October

This week our KS2 children turned into gardeners.  They put on their gardening gloves and worked really hard with trowels and forks to clear the weeds and leaves from the planters to prepare them for planting.
Monday 10th November

When the weather is wild outside, we take our club indoors.
This week our KS2 children had a fantastic time engaging in a fun orienteering activity.
Cooperating effectively and working in teams, they used both equipment and a map key, to accurately create 'Funny Faces' based on the information provided on the map.
