At the end of all the work you have done on MISSION, you might like to think of how we are called to carry on Christ’s work today and how you can live out Jesus’ mission in a simple way each day.
Read and discuss the following scripture from Corinthians 12.
Then go through the presentation about the life and work of Captain Tom below - he certainly lived a meaningful life - who would have thought he'd raise so much money for charity in his 100th year?

Your task today is to read the Mission prayer below, and then to write either your own version of a Mission prayer, or a prayer of thanksgiving for the life of Captain Tom, similar to the prayers in the power-point,  then decorate it with bright colours and appropriate images.
As a family, gather and read the scripture below:
Research - Learning Challenge

This half term we will be learning all about WW2 in the topic

'How could Hitler have convinced a nation like Germany to have followed him?'

Research suggestions for your learning challenge - look at the 'Spring 1 Homework' page on the Y5 menu - this has lots of information, resources and fascinating websites to help you.
This is to be studied every day and throughout the week.
You can also investigate the suggestions below.
Tuesday 9th February.

Here are today's lessons:

English - 1. Daily spellings - Tuesday Triangles.

 2. Writing - For the next few days you are going to be writing a biography on Anne Frank.

Today you are going to gather all your information:
  • Watch video clips
  • Read facts - Anne Frank significant individual, fact sheet etc.
  • Plan your biography.

Once you have read up on Anne, you need to be reminded about the key features of biographical writing. Below you will find a Biography power-point talking you through the key features as well as a checklist to consult during and after writing. There is a planning template below to help organise your writing. Finally, there is an example biography on Jacqueline Wilson.
You need to write at least 6 paragraphs.

                3. Letterjoin.
                4. Personal reading - to be discussed and shared at our 'live' session.

Today I'd like you to make a model gas mask and then fill in your evacuee label.
Below you will find the instructions and template for your mask.
Remember to use card for the mask, (from a cereal box), and a paper or plastic cup for the mouth piece. You can use transparent paper or from see-through plastic packaging for the eye holes - or even leave them as holes so you can see!
Once you've made your mask - fill in your label - then put them on and send a picture!
