I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to get out for a nice long walk!
I went for a big walk on Saturday around my local park and then I watched Liverpool v Man United on Sunday :D!!
Below you will find this week's work and the resources you will need! I really enjoyed our live lessons last week, thank you to those who joined the meetings. If you were unable to attend last week hopefully I will be able to meet with you this week!

Maths: First I would like you to answer the arithmetic questions below. Then I would like you to watch the video as a recap and complete the worksheet below
English: First I would like you to practise your spellings below. These are the spellings I would like you to practise all week. Then I would like you to complete the Zebra Comprehension below. Remember to answer your questions in full sentences! If you are in the Lions or Monkeys reading group, you can have the comprehension read to you. Hyenas, Hippos and Meerkats I expect you to read the comprehension yourself :).

Last week we read the story 'One Day on Our Blue Planet: In The Savannah'. Click on the link to reread the story: One Day on Our Blue Planet
This week we are going to write our own version of the story using a different animal from the Savannah.
Today I would like you to choose an animal to be the main character in the story, like the cub is!
Remember you have to choose an animal from the Savannah.
Please complete the character profile sheet below. Think about:
The animals appearance - what does it look like?
Where it lives - is it high up in a tree, or in a bush on the floor?
What it eats

This week we are learning about the world's continents and oceans. Our world is made up of 7 continents and 5 oceans.
I would like you to look at the world map below which has got the oceans and continents labelled onto it. Then I would like you to use the world map to help you locate and label your own!
Once you have finished you can play on this game to help you learn the continents and the oceans.

Yesterday you chose your character for your story so today we are going to plan our story. I would like you to complete a story board to help you write your story tomorrow!
There are 4 boxes to fill in, this is what I would like you to include in your story-board plan.
1. Your character waking up and going on an adventure. (draw a picture of your character waking up in their habitat).
2. Your character exploring the Savannah - (draw pictures and write keywords about what your character can see on their adventure)
3. Your character exploring the Savannah - (draw pictures and write keywords about what your character can see on their adventure)
4. Your character returning home and falling asleep.
You have completed lots of story-boards in class already so I know you will all know what to do!
PSHE: This week we are thinking about keeping healthy. We can keep ourselves healthy by eating and drinking the correct food.
Today I would like you to read the healthy-eating information leaflet and complete the two activities underneath. First I would like you to complete the cut and stick activity - you have to find the healthy food and put it in the lunch box! Then I would like you to design your own healthy meal!

Then complete the worksheet below. You will need a ruler!
English: Using your plan and character profile, I would now like you to write your story of 'One Day on Our Blue Planet: In The Savannah'.
I would like you to use Thursday and Friday to write your story because I don't want you to rush it! I want you to add lots of detail into your writing.
When you start to write your story I want you to use an exciting opener and to use adjectives when writing about your character and where it lives. Next, when writing about your character's adventure I want you to describe what it can see and how it feels exploring the Savannah for the first time! Challenge: include a simile in your writing!
Examples of openers: 'As the sun starts to rise...'
' One hot, sunny morning...'
' High in the trees a sleepy....'
Science: Yesterday I asked you to design a healthy meal in PSHE. Eating healthily is one of the basic needs of survival for animals including humans.

You can also complete the quiz after you watch the video.
Once you have watched the video I want you to identify what humans need to survive.
Think about what humans need to keep them happy, what do we need to keep us alive?
Draw a table with two headings: "Things I need to survive", "Things I need for happiness".
Underneath the table I would like you to explain in the why the items in the second group are non-essential but how they would help people be comfortable and happy.

Watch the video and answer the worksheet below Lesson 5
English: Please continue writing your own version of 'One Day on Our Blue Planet in the Savannah'.
Remember I want a range of openers. Try not to use the word 'then' more than once!
Examples of openers: 'After exploring, the cub wandered down towards...'
'In the distance he could see...'
'All around him...'
I also want you to include detail in your writing!
Once you have finished your work please reread it and check you have spelt your keywords correctly and have punctuated your sentences too! I am very excited to read all of your stories!
Challenge: IF you do finish your story and have time to complete more work, I have attached a full stops and capital letters document.
PE: For PE this week I would like you to make your own fitness circuit! You can do this in your house, garden or even on a walk! I would like you to try and think of different exercises that use different parts of your body! For example: you may do star jumps, skipping, football dribbling and shuttle runs! I am looking forward to hearing about your circuits - we could even do one when we all return to school!!
Music: Today I would like you to explore rhythm and pulse. I have found an activity that I would like you to do to help you keep a steady pulse and rhythm :).
